For those of you who don't know about puppy mills, you should definitely keep reading.

Did you know?
When you buy a puppy at a pet store... they actually came from a puppy milll.
Did you know?
For every puppy you buy in a pet store... four more "imperfect" ones die?

But... what is a puppy mill?
"Puppy mills are breeding facilities that produce purebred puppies in large numbers." Puppy mills have quite a poor quality of food, shelter, and they are extremely over crowded, with tons of puppies and full grown dogs stashed in one cage.
The most upsetting part is, some dogs spend their whole lives in a puppy mill. They're known as "brood bitches" and once they can't produce puppies, they're killed.

So... what now?
To stop puppy mills, you can do your part by encouraging others not to buy puppies from pet stores, instead, go to an animal shelter to adopt, or get a dog from a local, non-commercial breeder.Google "Stop puppy mills" for more information on how to stop this horrible cycle.

Does anyone else have any information to add, or have I made an error? let me know by posting below.

surely, not ALL pet stores support thing like that? like .. at PetCO there are adoption days and things .. and the puppies came from people who no longer wanted them or an animal shelter ... that's one of three pet stores I've ever been two, the other two I'm sure dom't get their puppies from puppy mills [they're small town ones, and only have a litter or two of puppies]

either way, that is terribly AWFULLL >_<

I have two dogs, and one is from one of my mom's friends, the other a Feed and Seed store. [:
